| Is anyone going to buy the 50th anniversary edition DVD of this movie, or does anyone already have it? | |

| I have the previous edition of "North By Northwest" on DVD. In the version I have, Martin has a few moments in the "making of" segment but unfortunatly, he had no part in the commentary. I looked at the 50th Anniversary edition but I didn't see that he did any part of a commentary on that one either, unfortunately, as I would have wanted to pick it up instantly. I wouldn't mind having it though as it would be nice to have a version of this movie that's been fine-tuned in video quality. Jean, you need a copy of this movie in any case, so pick it up! ;-D | |

| Oh yes! I will be purchasing the dvd. and I will be showing it in my film class.... Leonard is such a wonderful character, he's such a turd. I love the acting decision to make him a gay character, which was a brave choice that ML picked so early in his career. That look when he shoots James Mason is pricelss, ....rotten to the core!!! The auction scene is also great how he moves around trying to intimidate Cary, is masterful acting... so subtle and deadly...

| Blondie, so nice to meet you. I have seen your wonderful post at Jean's other site for Space: 1999, regarding what you said of "The Man Who was Never Born", and I've been meaning to respond to you on that! In fact, I had a response written out but couldn't get the "quote" feature to work properly. So much to say on that topic, as well, along with "Nevada Smith". About the anniversary DVD of "North by Northwest", I'm ashamed to say I only have the original DVD copy and never got around to picking up the anniversary edition. "Leonard... he's such a turd", Absolutelyl! The idea of Leonard being gay was ingenius, I think, and you're right, it was a daring thing to do at that time. I loved his response when people thought he was wrong to do it, that other people would think he's gay, and he said, "No they won't, I'm an actor...", something to that effect. The auction scene was priceless, those movements as you said. And don't the suits, the blue and the gray, look stunning? Don't go away, Blondie, so glad you're here... Beautiful avatar, by the way. "Bellero Shield" or "The Man Who was Never Born"?? *wink* | |

| Yes, the suits are killer in that movie pure class!... I heard on some interview that ML suits were made by Cary's favorite designer...(he was such a fashion icon) and kept after ML about were he got suits done... I've gone through most of the you tube interviews now which are wonderful sources of info on ML... I hope there is more out there... Holly I can see from NBNW especially; how Desilou would want him to play Spock.. but I think ML's said it best "I don't do wooden well" glad he waited for Mission... | |

| Yes, we are watching the same interviews! And that he thinks that Cary actually kept his (Martin's) suits, haha. I have also seen all the vidoes on YouTube that I could find of Martin. I have a You Tube account and have also posted a few videos and one radio interview with Martin for "Lovely, Still". If you're interested, check out my channel there, MirandaLantern. About Spock, he was wise to pass on that role. I also remember his "I don't do wooden" quote, and that playing an emotionless character was the antithesis of why he became an actor. About Mission, do you have the "Mission: Impossible Dossier" book? If not, try to obtain a copy on ebay, I know you'll enjoy it. Great information on Martin and his involvement with the show that isn't anywhere else. | |

| "Lovely, Still" is out in selected theaters and I hope it's showing near you, or will be soon! It's absolutely wonderful and that's all I'll say because I don't want to spoil it for you. After you see it, I would love to discuss it with you! Yes, do get the Mission DVD's. Oh my gosh, so much to say regarding so many of those episodes! My favorite episode is "Old Man Out" and "A Spool There Was", but there were so many great episodes that featured Rollin beautifully. I envy you being able to see these great shows, maybe for the first time! I'm nervous now about you seeing my videos, haha. I'm not so concerned with most people seeing them, but with Martin's fans, it's very different and my fingers are always crossed that they will be good enough. I'm very new to making videos and I'm still learning. In any case, enjoy! | |

| Miranda, those vids were edited very nicely! I enjoyed your choice in music, Neil Diamond; the birthday vid was especially moving. Good job! and you say you're only a "beginning editor?" I can feel the love in those vids... I think your transitions, pic choices, fit the music very well!! You have inspired me to start collecting photos of ML. as well! | |

| I'm glad you enjoyed my videos. With apologies for getting off topic for this thread, believe me when I say that your kind words about my birthday video for Martin were very much appreciated. I didn't have many days to make that video but during my time with it, I thought my heart would explode. Neil Diamond's music always inspires me, and working with his music along side Martin is always an absolute pleasure. | |
